DETROIT, June 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan is seeking to expand its pool of applicants for the three nongroup subscriber positions on its board of directors. A nongroup subscriber is someone who is billed directly, as an individual, for his or her Blues health coverage.
Screening the applicants will be the Blues’ three-member Nongroup Subscriber Director Selection Council. The council is looking to expand the present pool of applicants for council positions as well.
Applicants for the board of directors and selection council positions must be Blues nongroup subscribers. Other attributes which the council is seeking in applicants are:
-- Present or past leadership position in business, education, the professions or community -- Background in the health care industry (excluding providers of care, who are already represented on the Blues board of directors) -- Willingness to devote time to meetings and activities of the board and board committees
A board or council term is two years. The deadline for applying is July 15, 2005. Applications are available by calling the Blues toll-free at 1-800-637-7005.
