CONCORD, Calif., May 26 /PRNewswire/ -- BISNet, Inc., an industry-leading provider of technology solutions for employee benefits, announced that its contract has been extended to provide web-based enrollment services to Blue Shield of California's and Blue Shield of California Life & Health Insurance Company's (Blue Shield Life) eligible clients. Through January 2005, qualified employer groups who purchase or renew Blue Shield of California medical plans will be able to utilize BISNet's online enrollment capabilities at no additional charge.

The BISNet service is designed to help simplify the benefits administration process for producers, employers and healthcare carriers. It offers a comprehensive, one-stop benefits management resource to administer multiple medical and ancillary plans from Blue Shield of California and any other participating carrier. Through its single point-of-entry, web-based system, BISNet is able to provide administrative efficiencies that include reducing expenses associated with communications, staffing time and paper- based administration for its users. In addition, all BISNet's reporting capabilities are available in real time, which allows employers to measure standard workflow benefits management, employee enrollment and statistical analysis as well as bill reconciliation and ad hoc reporting.

Through this arrangement, Blue Shield will cover the initial set-up and monthly service fees for one year for all eligible employees who enroll through the system by January 31, 2005, including those who enroll with an alternative carrier. This allows employer groups to utilize the system for enrollment and administration of all their employees, at no extra cost.
To qualify for the current Blue Shield promotion, groups must have between 500 and 1,000 employees. Eligibility for groups with more than 1,000 employees will be determined by Blue Shield on a case-by-case basis. They must purchase or renew a Blue Shield medical plan between now and Jan. 31, 2005, and they must have at least 50 percent of their employees enrolled in a Blue Shield or Blue Shield Life medical plan.
