Planegg, April 6, 2016. – At this year’s in-cosmetics, AMSilk GmbH, the world’s first industrial supplier of synthetic silk biopolymers, and its new distribution partner, RAHN AG, will present innovative ingredients and formulations containing AMSilk biopolymers. in-cosmetics, the world’s leading business event for personal care ingredients, will take place in Paris from April 12 to 14, 2016.
Silkbeads and Silkgel, the products that will be presented by AMSilk at in-cosmetics, offer excellent formulation properties and can therefore easily be integrated into various cosmetic and personal care products. Both products provide unique features to the final applications.
Silkbeads: prolong and intensify the effects of ingredients
Silkbeads are microparticles that have the appearance of a white powder and can easily be added to cosmetic and personal care products giving creams and other cosmetic products a pleasantly soft and light texture. At the same time, Silkbeads can store fragrances, colorants, and ingredients, thereby prolonging and increasing their effects. Silkbeads also help the skin to retain moisture and absorb excess sebum (oil) for a mattifying effect. The “soft-focus effect” created by Silkbeads provides optical correction of wrinkles, making them suitable for use in anti-aging products.
Silkgel: protects like a second skin
Silkgel is a water-based hydrogel which likewise contains silk-based biopolymers made by AMSilk. Used in formulations, Silkgel forms a protective film, shielding skin from harmful environmental influences and bacteria without affecting the skin’s breathability and natural functions. Silkgel, like Silkbeads, intensifies the effects of ingredients.
These silk-based biopolymers produced by AMSilk using a patented biotechnological process are also biocompatible and hypoallergenic and are thus excellently tolerated by skin.
Today Silkbeads and Silkgel are worldwide successfully used in cosmetic and personal care products, currently mainly in Asian countries. Now, in cooperation with Zurich-based RAHN AG, AMSilk plans to further expand its product distribution throughout Europe.
