Tokyo, June 29, 2006 (JCN) - Alcon Japan and Kyowa Hakko Kogyo have signed an agreement for the olopatadine hydrochloride ophthalmic solution, a prescription eye drop for the treatment of allergy. Under the agreement terms, the two companies will jointly sell and promote the agent in Japan. The ophthalmic solution, for which Alcon Japan filed a new drug application in June 2003, is currently available in 83 countries worldwide. In the US, it is marketed under the trade name of Patanol.
