Advanced Clinical Research Institute, LLC Celebrates 10 years of Early Clinical Research with the Grand Opening of its New Clinical Pharmacology Unit

Anaheim, CA / March 13, 2009 / - Advanced Clinical Research Institute (ACRI), one of the largest, privately-owned Phase I through Phase IV Clinical Research Facilities in the US, announced the opening of its new Phase I, Clinical Pharmacology Unit (CPU) located at 1085 North Harbor Boulevard, Anaheim, CA. The new, 10,000 square foot, overnight facility with 40-bed capacity, offers private sleeping quarters and examination rooms, separate dining and entertainment areas, and enclosed outdoor patio. The $3.5M, state-of-the-art facility features a Biohazard Level 2 Safety Laboratory, special diagnostic and medical equipment including -70 degree freezers, refrigerated centrifuges, atomic clocks, telemetry for 24-hour continuous cardiac monitoring, and multiple Spirometry units and ECG machines. Along with a nearby overflow facility, ACRI now offers a total of 100 available beds for early stage clinical trials, with first-in-man capabilities.

“Our new Phase I research facility expands our capabilities and offers comfortable accommodations for our study participants, as well as a pleasant atmosphere for our pharmaceutical sponsors and staff, with ample parking, and a convenient location, said Dr. Dennis Riff, Medical Director. “Over the years, we leased facilities for the conduct of our Phase I trials. ACRI’s new, dedicated CPU marks a continuing commitment to our community, clients and employees.”

With over 25 years of clinical research experience, ACRI has conducted over 1,500 clinical trials. Special studies are conducted in multiple therapeutic areas, particularly Gastroenterology, Endocrinology, Infectious Diseases, Pain/CNS, and Respiratory/Pulmonary. With southern California’s dense population, geographical location, and ethnic diversity, ACRI has developed a large patient database allowing easy access to healthy volunteers and special patient populations, such as renal- and hepatic-impaired subjects.

“The ACRI model is different from most other Clinical Research Centers,” said Dr. Riff. “Our patient database is primarily derived from our thriving private medical practice, hence our database is dynamic. As a result, ACRI has achieved recognition as one of the top enrollers in a majority of studies conducted.”

Through its affiliations and strategic partners, ACRI offers a full range of CRO services, including project management, data management, biostatistics and medical writing. Access to Endoscopy, Radiology, and Surgical Centers are also available for special and complex procedures.

To celebrate the grand opening of the new Phase I research center, ACRI plans an Open House for Industry Sponsors on Wednesday, April 22, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM to preview the new facility.
