TomoTherapy to Showcase New Remote Planning Solution at ESTRO

MADISON, WI--(Marketwire - May 03, 2011) - TomoTherapy Incorporated (NASDAQ: TOMO), maker of advanced radiation therapy solutions for the treatment of cancer and other diseases, today announced a new feature for its TomoTherapy® radiation therapy treatment system that provides dosimetrists, physicists and physicians the ability to develop and approve treatment plans from virtually anywhere in the world. The new Remote Planning solution extends the full TomoTherapy Planning Station functionality to any Web-connected computer, giving cancer centers a competitive advantage for attracting and retaining specialists and greater flexibility to balance staff across multiple locations.

TomoTherapy will demonstrate the Remote Planning solution at Booth 10 in the exhibit hall at the ESTRO Anniversary Congress in London, May 8-12, 2011. Remote Planning gives users full TomoTherapy treatment planning capabilities from virtually any remote location, without impacting the ability of others to continue using the TomoTherapy Planning Stations installed within the cancer center's TomoTherapy Network System. The feature can be accessed from remote locations via encrypted SSL connection, enterprise Citrix connection, VPN or other secure network access connection, which helps ensure security and compliance with HIPAA regulations.

Also on display at TomoTherapy's booth is the TomoHD™ treatment system, incorporating both TomoHelical™ and TomoDirect™ treatment modalities for broader clinical flexibility, and an interactive demonstration of the TomoTherapy platform's patented binary multi-leaf collimator, designed from the ground up for intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT).

TomoTherapy Events at ESTRO
In addition to the exhibit, TomoTherapy will be hosting two events in conjunction with ESTRO. First will be a Pre-ESTRO Planning Workshop for customers, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 7 at the Crowne Plaza London Docklands. This workshop will feature Dr. Florian Sterzing, an experienced user of the TomoTherapy system at the University Clinic of Heidelberg, who will present an interactive session on planning techniques, followed by a hands-on workshop for attendees.

Then, on May 10, TomoTherapy will host "A Better Way" lunchtime symposium from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Capital Suites in the ICC Convention Center. The event will feature presentations from renowned radiation oncology experts practicing in Europe and TomoTherapy Chairman and Co-Founder, Thomas "Rock" Mackie, Ph.D.

"Our partners in Europe are making great strides in improving cancer care with the TomoTherapy radiation therapy platform, and we are honored they can join us at ESTRO to share their successes and practical implementations of our cutting-edge radiation therapy system," said Fred Robertson, M.D., TomoTherapy's president and CEO. "We also look forward to demonstrating our latest advancements, including Remote Planning, in the exhibit hall so ESTRO attendees can learn more about how TomoTherapy technology can deliver a multitude of benefits to their patient population and cancer center operations."
