Smiths Medical, Inc.'s PharmGuard Infusion Management Software Now Supports Interoperability

ST. PAUL, Minn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Smiths Medical, a leading global medical device manufacturer, announced today its Medfusion® 4000 wireless syringe infusion pumps are now interoperable, allowing auto-charting of infusion data into a hospital’s electronic medical record (EMR).

Infusion therapy data is currently sent wirelessly from a Medfusion® 4000 pump to a hospital’s server via PharmGuard® Server software. Clinicians can then view, evaluate, and print that information to help with continuous quality improvements (CQI) across their enterprise. The new PharmGuard® Interoperability software add-on module for the PharmGuard® Server software now takes that information one step further by automatically charting it directly into patient records on the hospital’s EMR system, saving clinician’s time in daily workflow. It also increases documentation accuracy and improves patient safety by reducing manual data entry errors.
