Launches European Operations to Bring Data Property Ownership Throughout the Continent

PRINCETON, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--, the company behind the 31st Human Right making your data your property, launches operations in Europe with a European-based team.

The team will be led by Sheli Gupta, a visionary entrepreneur with deep expertise, respect and connections within the healthcare industry.

“Europe looks at data differently than the U.S. and GDPR is a great example of this difference. As a result, it is essential to have a physical presence in the European market to ensure the #My31 movement has support and understanding from the houses of parliament to the boardrooms of healthcare companies to the cafes and pubs,” Gupta says. “There are numerous unique cultural, legal and ethical realities that need to be embraced in order for data property ownership to become a widespread reality throughout the continent.”

Because will first focus on personal data ownership within the healthcare industry, the European team includes an impressive mix of healthcare insiders who will act as liaisons to bring the 31st Human Right to life:

“European laws already place the power of property ownership in the hands of the individual, in contrast to most US laws where currently, data ownership is given to the entity collecting the data,” says Ed Godber, who has continued his family’s legacy of supporting public healthcare policy as his grandfather helped pioneer the National Health Service in the United Kingdom. “Despite the important steps GDPR initiated for data ownership in Europe, there needs to be a clear mechanism for individuals to control and manage how their data is used. That is where fits in to the equation brilliantly.”

The #My31 app empowers people to control how their data is used. It even creates a digital title for their data, which works just like the title for a car; it is a document of property ownership. The app is available for download on Google Play and the iPhone version is available for beta testing here. Both are free to download and use.

The app is currently available only in the U.S., but will be available in Europe and beyond in the coming months.
