Catalent Pharma Solutions Receives Award For Its Innovative Combination Potent Product Launch Partnership

PRLog (Press Release) – Oct 26, 2010 – Somerset, NJ — Catalent Pharma Solutions has won for the third year in a row “The Best Contract Manufacturing Project” award at the 2010 European Outsourcing Awards, again recognizing its industry leadership and excellence. In the award-winning project, Catalent brought extensive expertise in softgel technology, over-encapsulation, and packaging to partner with a leading pharmaceutical company to launch Duodart®, an innovative potent fixed dose combination therapy medicine.

Multiple Catalent experts from many disciplines and across several of its global sites worked with the partner to overcome developmental challenges for this highly innovative product. Going forward, commercial softgel manufacture of the product is in Catalent’s Beinheim, France facility and, after a joint investment into state-of-the-art sophisticated technology, the over-encapsulation, release testing and packaging of the product is provided by Catalent’s Schorndorf, Germany site. The process includes a complex over-encapsulation of a softgel and beads into a hard shell capsule to deliver a fixed dose combination in a convenient novel dose form.

This year Catalent was a finalist for the European Outsourcing Award in the Most Effective Scale-Up/Tech Transfer category for its involvement with the same product. Catalent was also a finalist in the Most Innovative Relationship category for its effective work on a new prenatal product formulation with a leading Japanese partner.

Launched in 2005, the European Outsourcing Awards recognize significant developments in contract services and rewards successful companies for their outstanding contributions and achievements throughout the year. The awards were created to celebrate and recognize excellence in R&D, marketing, business and technology across the pharmaceutical industry.
