BIO Announces Promotion of Jeanne Haggerty to Executive Vice President for Government Affairs and External Relations

WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO) President & CEO Jim Greenwood today announced the promotion of Jeanne Haggerty to the position of Executive Vice President for Government Affairs and External Relations, effective immediately.

Haggerty has been with BIO for more than a decade, and most recently led BIO's Federal Government Relations team as Senior Vice President for Federal Government Relations. In her new role, she will oversee BIO’s federal and state government relations, as well as alliance development activities at the federal and state levels, including BIO's relationships with patient advocacy organizations, state biotechnology associations, university and academic research institutions, and other third-party stakeholders across BIO’s Health, Industrial and Environmental and Food & Agriculture sectors.

"Jeanne has been a tremendous asset for BIO and our members over the past decade as we've faced critical advocacy issues at the federal level, and I am confident that she has the right mix of talents to successfully lead our broader advocacy and alliance-building efforts into the future," said Greenwood.

“BIO’s member companies are making incredible strides in bringing innovative products to patients, farmers, and consumers around the world,” said Haggerty. “It has been a pleasure to work for such a dynamic and impactful industry over the last 12 years, and I am very excited to take on a more comprehensive role in this new position."

Haggerty joined BIO in September 2006 as Director for Federal Government Relations, was named Vice President in September 2014, and Senior Vice President in August 2015. Prior to joining BIO, Haggerty served as a Professional Staff Member for the House Committee on Energy and Commerce. She also worked for Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) on the Senate Aging Committee, for the Senate Finance Committee, and in government relations at Epstein, Becker and Green.
