American College of Cardiology Elects Dr. Kim Allan Williams President
SAN DIEGO, March 16, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The American College of Cardiology today elected Kim Allan Williams, M.D. FACC as president for the upcoming year at its 64th Annual Scientific Sessions.
Williams is the chief of cardiology and James B. Herrick Professor at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. He has published numerous peer reviewed articles, editorials, book chapters, and review articles in the field of cardiology, cardiac imaging and regarding minority health issues, with emphasis on education and innovations in perfusion imaging and quantitation of ventricular function. His more recent research interests include prevention of heart disease, health care disparities and payment policy, and appropriate use of cardiac imaging.
During his presidency, Williams plans to focus on his passion for population health and prevention, particularly as it relates to the College's Strategic Plan.

Born and raised in inner-city Chicago, Williams attended the College of The University of Chicago and the University of Chicago's Pritzker School of Medicine. He completed his residency of internal medicine at Emory University and then had overlapping fellowships in Cardiology, Clinical Pharmacology and Nuclear Medicine at the University of Chicago.
