Meet The Former Twitter, Google Execs That Created A Biotech To Detect Cancer Earlier

With its $249 test to screen for 30 genes linked to eight hereditary cancers, Color Genomics Inc. has pushed to detect cancer earlier but also take price away as a barrier.

Color took a big step toward those goals Monday: It said a number of health insurers, including UnitedHealthcare, part of UnitedHealth Group Inc. (NYSE: UNH), Anthem Inc. (NYSE: ANTM) and Blue Shield of California, will cover its saliva test for cancer starting June 15. That means that companies that handle insurance for 120 million people will pay for the test.
