Applied DNA Sciences, Inc. (OTCBB: APDN), a provider of DNA-based security solutions, announced that it has entered into a long term supply agreement with 3SI Security Systems, the world leader in asset protection systems. Commercial supply of the DNA markers has already begun, with repeat orders to be fulfilled on a monthly basis.
Applied DNA was selected by 3SI because of the conviction power of its DNA authentication system. Due to the robustness of the forensic markers, criminals can be linked directly to the evidence submitted for testing at Applied DNA laboratories. 3SI has played a leading role in driving the adoption of forensic markers within the European cash protection industry for many years.
“As a world leader in asset protection systems, 3SI is committed to providing its customers with high performance, technologically advanced products that are affordable. DNA technology has a proven track record in deterring crime and protecting people, and so it is a vital component to the 3SI solution portfolio. It makes criminals think twice before attacking our clients’ assets,” stated Derek Zuckert, Managing Director, 3SI Europe.
SigNature DNA: Dynamic Law Enforcement Technology
3SI Security Systems, established in the USA in 1970 and in Europe in 1982, manufactures, sells and services asset protection security systems based on ink and smoke staining as well as GPS technology. The use of DNA in 3SI’s European currency protection security systems provides law enforcement with irrefutable evidence to help solve cash robbery investigations. This augments the strong market share already controlled by Applied DNA in the UK, and the company’s growing markets in Scandinavia, with incremental market share throughout the rest of Europe.
SigNature DNA has proven remarkably useful in assisting law enforcement agencies in the UK in the capture and prosecution of criminals accused of CViT crimes. APDN has assisted in convictions totaling 122 years in prison to-date. The overall CViT crime rate is down 21% year on year (180 attacks versus 229 for same period in 2010) with losses reportedly down 54% year on year and armed CViT robberies have been dramatically lowered by 70%. The Return on Investment (ROI) for existing APDN customers has already proven record-setting within the CViT industry. This marks Applied DNA’s first entry into the marking of ATM’s.
Theft of cash from 3SI’s protection systems will result in both the money and offenders being DNA marked and irrevocably tied to the crime. SigNature DNA technology can forensically link offenders with an individual crime scene, meaning they cannot deny their involvement. It cannot be removed or replicated and is available in an unlimited number of unique DNA codes, enabling the unequivocal authentication of bank notes and other marked items.
“Applied DNA has continued to ensure that its DNA platform is adopted by 3SI and other strategic partners worldwide. In Sweden, DNA is the core technology behind the DNA crime prevention system that is used for covert sting operations, as well as for asset protection in commercial and residential locations. In the United States, DNA is instrumental in providing anti-counterfeiting protection for the Department of Defense in protecting microchips used in aircraft and other mission critical defense areas,” stated Dr. James Hayward, CEO of Applied DNA Sciences.
