Applied Digital Technologies Awarded $12M Contract by Med-Benefits Direct

SALT LAKE CITY, UT--(Marketwire - March 12, 2009) -

Applied Digital today announced that Med-Benefits Direct has awarded ADTI a contract valued at approximately $12 million for product and fulfillment of medical/health care and identifications services, proprietary software and patent pending hardware products specifically designed for health care providers, emergency care givers, law enforcement and other authorized agencies throughout the United States and Canada.

ADTI is pleased that physicians are embracing the technology, which ADTI has been pioneering and are finding the relevance and importance of maintaining patient information in an electronic format and applauds Med-Benefits for its visionary program.

The Obama administration stimulus package has specifically designated funds for such a plan, which will help in streamlining the implementation and development of electronic medical records within the mass consumer market.

Most recently, Wal-Mart stores, under their Sam's Club division, announced that it is launching an electronic medical records program. The Wal-Mart/Sam's Club offering, has an estimated cost of $25,000 for the first physician in a practice, and about $10,000 for each additional doctor, with maintenance and support estimated at $4,000 to $6,500 annually.

The ADTI solution is available at a vastly reduced cost, not only to physicians, but at a price that is attainable for consumers. "We considered the value of the product, placed within the hands of American families, but we also considered the present state of the economy and our respect for the family budget in setting our cost. With Wal-Mart acting as a facilitator, but not actually playing a role other than middle man, it does not appear that stimulus funds will flow through to either physicians or consumers under the Wal-Mart model. Our goal was to make an affordable product for consumers and eliminate the middle man," said Chris Ponish, President of ADTI.

Under the program ADTI will provide Life-Link identification wristbands, smartcards and registration within the ERIN911 (Emergency Response Information Network), which provides 24/7 access to a subscribers medical records, emergency contact information, medication, allergies, and specific medical conditions, thus providing health care providers with a comprehensive overview of the patient's medical history, allowing for prompt, accurate delivery of medical treatment.

ADTI's Emergency health data system is compatible with "ERIN"™ network software and able to access personal health/medical network, in real-time, in the event of an emergency situation.

The network software is uniquely designed to instantly inform authorized persons, such as caregivers, hospitals and first responders to specific medical conditions or life threatening allergic reactions, through a simple yet secure web-based interface and emergency call center.

This project will also serve as the roll-out of eMD™ (Electronic Medical Document), the first of its kind to provide immediate access to scanned physician records, x-rays and other diagnostic elements, providing availability in seconds to critical data, without the necessity of delays in manual delivery.

"We continue to see strong opportunities in the global medical records market for our portfolio of products and services, as evidenced by these contracts valued at up to $12 million in addition to our pending acquisition by Startanja, GmbH announcement last week which will see our shares registered on two trading markets in the near term, this is significant growth for such a young company," said Chris Ponish. "With our global footprint and expanding capabilities to serve a worldwide emergency medical records sector, ADTI is well-placed for success in our market. This project is the first step to establishing a medical data network and portable medical records deployment, which will significantly contribute to the safety and speed of delivery of life saving emergency medical treatment."

ADTI will continue to develop hardware and software solutions for future Med-Benefits brands as well as provide fulfillment and technical support.
