The Great Place to Work® Institute UK awarded Almac the accolade after a comprehensive vetting process that included an analysis of company data and survey responses from 400 randomly selected employees.
“This prestigious accolade is further testament to Almac’s corporate values for ‘outstanding quality’, ‘exceptional innovation’, ‘superlative customer care’ and its commitment to hiring and keeping the industry’s most ‘inspirational people’” said Alan Armstrong, CEO at Almac.
Almac, the Craigavon based, international integrated contract development and manufacturing organisation, has won a 2010 Great Place to Work® Institute UK annual award. The company was also judged by the Institute to be in the UK’s top five companies for its approach and ethos towards disability.
The awards follow a rigorous selection process whereby the Almac Group (Belfast, Scotland and Manchester offices) were evaluated on its staff survey responses to the Great Place to Work® Trust Index© - a proprietary employee survey developed by the Great Place to Work® Institute. In addition, the Institute also evaluated materials submitted by the company, including the company’s response to the Great Place to Work® Culture Audit©.
The Great Place to Work® Institute has been assessing the world’s best companies in over 40 countries since 1980 and honours recipients according to its employees scores against the Institute’s values of ‘credibility’, ‘respect’, ‘fairness’, ‘pride’, and ‘camaraderie’.
Commenting on the award, Alan Armstrong, CEO said: “This award is a tremendous tribute to how important each member of staff is to the company. Almac has always strived to employ and nurture the best minds in the industry and this award is yet further proof of the late Sir Allen McClay’s vision for a company committed to good corporate citizenship – a fact further exemplified by Almac’s presence as the only winner from the Pharma industry”.
Tom O’Byrne, CEO, The Great Place to Work® Institute UK said “Almac Group demonstrated that they have progressive people management practices and even more importantly the essential ingredient of a truly great workplace – TRUST. By understanding how their employees think and feel, and engaging in open and honest communication the management have built trust in the leadership and the organisation.”
