VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Jan. 30, 2009) - ALDA Pharmaceuticals Corp. (TSX VENTURE:APH) (“the Company” or “ALDA”) announces that, in tests conducted at an independent laboratory in the US, T36® Antiseptic Hand Sanitizer has been shown to kill the accepted test substitute for Norwalk virus, Feline Calicivirus, on contact and virtually eliminates the virus after 5 minutes. Norwalk and Norwalk-like viruses are members of the family Caliciviridae and are the leading cause of gastroenteritis in humans. As expected from the scientific literature, additional testing conducted at the same time demonstrated that a leading ethanol-based hand sanitizer had no measurable effect on the virus.
