COLUMBIA, Md., July 9, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- ACell, Inc., a leading regenerative medicine company focused on the development and commercialization of unique extracellular matrix products, announced today the launch of a national physician education initiative consisting of educational courses, hands-on training, and peer-to-peer events.

The Company is offering a series of educational courses for physicians to advance their knowledge of regenerative medicine and surgical techniques using the MatriStem extracellular matrix for a variety of indications, including hernia/abdominal wall repair, pelvic floor reconstruction, general surgery, wound care and other indications.

The hands-on sessions include surgical training at multiple locations across the U.S. presented by thought-leading surgeons. Upcoming courses will focus on hernia/abdominal wall repair, reconstructive surgery and pelvic floor repair.

ACell has also established a Speakers’ Bureau of experts in regenerative medicine. These thought-leading surgeons will present at local and regional physician peer-to-peer events, and via webinars, to highlight positive clinical outcomes they have achieved using ACell’s MatriStem extracellular matrix.

“MatriStem represents a true leap forward in our ability to treat patients in a variety of situations that previously would have been difficult to treat,” said Speaker’s Bureau member John Zografakis, M.D. of Akron, Ohio. “The regenerative properties of MatriStem encourage the constructive remodeling of tissue with a unique healing response in both routine and very extraordinary clinical situations.”

Rodney Bosley, ACell President & COO, said, “The launch of this national physician training program is a major step to further expand the use of MatriStem and drive our continued growth. Physicians continue to recognize the unique healing and constructive tissue remodeling characteristics of MatriStem and use it in a wide range of applications. This education initiative is designed to leverage the clinical community’s broad experience with MatriStem to expand awareness and understanding of how it can be used to achieve improved outcomes in both surgical and wound care applications.”
