It has been a wild year to be a biotech investor. Shares of the SPDR S&P Biotech ETF, a popular ETF that holds several dozen individual biotech companies, cratered and recovered multiple times in 2016 based on the political headlines of the day.
While biotech stocks in general soared in November after the surprise election of Donald Trump, the SPDR S&P Biotech ETF is still down more than 7% since the start of the year.
