Wyeth Selected for 10th Consecutive Year as One of Working Mother Magazine’s 100 Best Companies for Working Mothers

MADISON, N.J., Sept. 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Wyeth announced today that it has been selected again as one of Working Mother magazine’s 100 Best Companies for Working Mothers. It is the 10th consecutive year that Wyeth has received this honor. The selection was based on detailed responses to a comprehensive application that solicited information about the workforce and compensation, as well as child care programs, flexibility, leave policies and employee usage of such programs.

“The innovative programs we’ve developed at Wyeth have been successful in helping our employees manage the demands of the workplace along with their personal responsibilities,” says Rene Lewin, Senior Vice President, Human Resources, Wyeth. “Attaining this honor from Working Mother for the 10th consecutive year is testimony to our sustained commitment to a talented and diverse workforce - one of the best in our industry.”

Wyeth provides an array of benefits to meet a variety of employee needs, including the special needs of working mothers. For example, to help offset the high costs of dependent care, Wyeth is one of only a few companies that offers a matching contribution to employee Dependent Care Spending Accounts. In addition, Wyeth offers adoption assistance benefits, newborn care leave for new parents and Life Management Resources, a program that helps secure family care giving assistance and provides convenience, emotional wellness, and legal and financial services. Wyeth also provides on-site child care facilities in two of its locations, as well as discounts with national child care providers, a tuition reimbursement program, training and development opportunities, and a lactation program for mothers returning to work.

Many Wyeth employees have an opportunity to choose their work schedules to give them the flexibility to manage both work and personal responsibilities. Some employees may have the opportunity to work from home occasionally or regularly. The Company recognizes that flexibility can assist employees in fulfilling both work and personal responsibilities while helping Wyeth meet business objectives.

Monica Kruse, a Wyeth employee since 2004, held a senior Human Resources position, managing a staff of 28, when she requested a Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA) consisting of a reduced schedule and two days of telecommuting. Her commute was considerable, and she wanted to spend more time with her family. Her high-visibility, senior management position made this FWA particularly significant. In the one-and-a-half years since her FWA began, Kruse has played an important role within the Company while simultaneously achieving her personal family goals.

“Partnership is the key,” Kruse says. “FWAs are not easy and take a great deal of commitment from the team. My manager is not only supportive of my work/life balance, but she has taken concrete steps to help me achieve it.”

Wyeth is one of the world’s largest research-driven pharmaceutical and health care products companies. It is a leader in the discovery, development, manufacturing and marketing of pharmaceuticals, vaccines, biotechnology products and non-prescription medicines that improve the quality of life for people worldwide. The Company’s major divisions include Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, Wyeth Consumer Healthcare and Fort Dodge Animal Health.
