Worldwide Orders For Carestream Health, Inc.'s DRX Detectors Pass 1,500 Mark

ROCHESTER, N.Y., June 21 —Carestream Health continues to amass orders for imaging systems based on its wireless, cassette-size CARESTREAM DRX-1 detector. The company’s popular DRX-based systems enable healthcare providers to boost productivity while enhancing patient care. The company has sold more than 1,500 DRX detectors worldwide. The DRX platform offers compelling versatility by allowing detectors to be shared among multiple x-ray systems. For example, a detector can be used in a mobile imaging unit for early morning hospital rounds and then moved to a DRX-1 system or DRX-Evolution suite for the rest of the day. DRX detectors can also be moved from day use in general radiology rooms to mobile units that serve the emergency department at night.

Recent orders for DRX systems include following U.S. healthcare providers:

- Archbold Memorial Hospital (Thomasville, Ga.) ordered a dual-detector DRX-Evolution suite

- Grady General Hospital (Cairo, Ga.) ordered a single-detector DRX-Evolution suite

- Hoag Hospital (Irvine, Calif.) ordered a DRX-1 system

- Hoag Imaging Center (Newport Beach, Calif.) ordered a DRX-Evolution suite

- Ironman Sports Medicine Institute at Memorial Hermann (Houston, Texas) ordered two DRX-Evolution suites

- Memorial Sloan Kettering (New York, N.Y.) ordered a DRX-Mobile Retrofit kit

- Methodist Center for Orthopedic Surgery (Houston, Texas) ordered two DRX-Evolution suites

- St. Margaret’s Health (Spring Valley, Ill.) ordered a DRX-Mobile Retrofit kit and a DRX-Evolution suite with the DRX-1C detector.

Carestream Health’s DRX solutions include the CARESTREAM DRX-1 System, CARESTREAM DRX-Mobile Retrofit kit and CARESTREAM DRX-Evolution suite. The original DRX-1 detector is complemented by a second detector, the cesium iodide-based CARESTREAM DRX-1C, that offers exceptional image quality and improved DQE (detective quantum efficiency). Images are available for review in five seconds and can be communicated to a PACS or other systems via a wireless network.

The DRX-1 system features a cassette-size DR detector that fits into an existing table or wall stand Bucky to enable cost-effective conversion from film or CR imaging systems without replacing x-ray systems or renovating exam rooms. The DRX-Evolution suite helps improve both productivity and patient care by matching the positioning flexibility of the DRX-1 detector with a fully automated x-ray suite. Removable DRX detectors in the wall stand and/or the table are used to perform tabletop exams as well.

The CARESTREAM DRX-Mobile Retrofit Kit allows healthcare providers to upgrade selected GE, Siemens and Shimadzu mobile x-ray systems to wireless DR technology that delivers rapid access to images and helps improve patient care, particularly for critically ill patients in emergency rooms, operating rooms and the ICU.
