Upon green-light irradiation, KillerRed generates ROS that damage the neighboring molecules, and can be used for photo-dynamic therapy. KillerRed Photosensitizer Protein can be used in targeted delivery of liposomes, loaded with KillerRed Photosensitizer Protein, to tumors or primary cells, followed by local illumination with green light.
