University of Massachusetts - Amherst Speaker Warns Of Use Of Implanted Devices

The Dartmouth -- From diabetes to Parkinson’s disease, more and more chronic ailments are being treated with implanted medical devices that rely on wireless communication and Internet connectivity to transmit data directly from patient to doctor. While such devices can vastly improve care for these chronic diseases, they also introduce new and potentially deadly risks, Kevin Fu, associate professor of computer science at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, said in a lecture in Moore Hall on Thursday.
