Northwestern Memorial is one of only 4 teaching hospitals in Illinois and 53 in the country to earn the Top Teaching Hospital distinction from Leapfrog. The 894-bed academic medical center is the primary teaching affiliate for Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.

“At Northwestern Memorial Hospital, our physicians, nurses and staff are driven by their dedication and passion for delivering outstanding care,” said Julie Creamer, President, Northwestern Memorial Hospital. “This recognition as a Top Teaching Hospital by Leapfrog is a reflection of our hospital’s commitment to providing high quality, patient-centered care in the safest healthcare environment possible. As a teaching hospital, we are training next generation of physicians, nurses and other providers to instill this culture of safety into the patient care they provide as they grow in their careers.”

Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital received a Top General Hospital distinction and is one of only 2 general hospitals in Illinois and 35 in the country to be recognized. Delnor is a 159 licensed bed acute-care facility in Geneva, Ill., with a medical staff which includes nearly 600 physicians in 64 specialties providing comprehensive medical care.

“We are proud of the extraordinary devotion and passion demonstrated by Delnor’s physicians, nurses and staff who are focused on delivering safe and high quality care to every patient, every time,” said Maureen Bryant, President, Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital. “To be named a Leapfrog Group Top Hospital for the second time in three years is a testament to our hospital’s ongoing commitment to patient engagement, safety, transparency and accountability. We are honored to bring to high level of care to the patients in the western suburbs.”

The highest performing hospitals on the Leapfrog Hospital Survey are recognized annually with the prestigious Leapfrog Top Hospital award. Top Hospitals have better systems in place to prevent medication errors, higher quality on maternity care and lower infection rates, among other laudable qualities. Hospitals that are eligible to receive a Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade have received an A in the most recent round of scoring to be eligible. The award is not given to a set number of hospitals, but rather, to all urban, rural, and children’s hospitals that meet the high standards defined in each year’s Top Hospitals Methodology.
