TriMed, Inc. Announces Licensing Agreement with Stryker

VALENCIA, Calif., Jan. 11, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- TriMed, Inc., a developer and manufacturer of orthopaedic fixation devices based in Valencia, CA, announces that it has reached an agreement to license its “pin plate” device to Stryker, Inc. The licensing agreement covers U.S. Patent No. 5,931,839 and ends a four-year patent infringement suit. The agreement was reached in October 2010.

TriMed developed the Radial Pin Plate and Ulnar Pin Plate in 1995 for use in treating distal radius (wrist) fractures without the need for a post-surgical cast. The plates are particularly suited for stabilizing the small bone fragments of these fractures and enabling early mobilization of the injured wrist.

David Medoff, one of TriMed’s owners, said, “We are pleased to have reached this agreement. TriMed is a dynamic company with the ability to create new implants for treating orthopaedic injuries and conditions. We have an unbroken record of increasing sales and profitability for the past 13 years and we will continue to concentrate on developing products for upper and lower extremities.”
