Thousands Tune Into The Latest Mental Health Breakthroughs At The U.S. Psychiatric & Mental Health Congress; CME LLC Announces 2005 Call For Presentations

IRVINE, Calif., Jan. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- More than 3,000 mental health professionals, including psychiatrists, primary care physicians, pharmacists and nurse practitioners were registered to attend this year's 17th annual U.S. Psychiatric & Mental Health Congress. The event, sponsored by CME LLC and held in San Diego, November 18-21, provided clinicians with important information on the latest research findings and treatment options in the field of mental health. CME is now accepting presentations for the 2005 event, taking place November 7-10, 2005 in Las Vegas.

CME, the conference sponsor, is now accepting industry support for various educational topics throughout the four days, including non-meal and meal symposia and workshops. Those interested in extending support for the 2005 Congress should contact Steve Mandell, VP of sales at steve.mandell@cmellc.com.

The 2004 Congress featured more than 130 sessions across 11 educational tracks, and attendees learned from leading medical authorities about the latest clinical diagnostic and treatment therapies. Some earned more than 30 accredited continuing medical education credits.

More than 100 clinical research posters were presented at the congress with 50 of these presenting research data to the medical community for the first time. More than 70 pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers exhibited at the congress, where attendees could discuss vital information and learn about the latest products, treatments and services available.

The U.S. Psychiatric & Mental Health Congress also presented 19 different industry-supported symposia and workshops, including:

   * Delaying Alzheimer's Disease Progression: Evolving Strategies

   * Insomnia -- a 24-hour Disorder: Diagnostic Challenges and Evolving
      Solutions

   *  Adolescent ADHD

   * Atypical Depression: Managing the Whole Patient

   * Brainstorming on Bipolar: Long Term Treatment Strategies

   * Coexisting Anxiety and Depression: From Diagnosis to Treatment

"Dr. Gray's presentation on Lewy Body Disease was perhaps the most beneficial talk I've heard to date," said one physician attendee in an anonymous congress survey. He went on to say that he feels better equipped to provide adequate care for patients who have an obvious or emerging dementia condition and to communicate both directly with patients and in cooperation with other practitioners.

Among the dozens of noted clinicians that attended this year's congress and served as faculty, Howard E. Book, MD, co-author of "The EQ Edge: Emotional Intelligence and Your Success," and Aureen Pinto Wagner, MD, PhD, author of "Worried No More: Help and Hope for Anxious Children," presented sessions on cognitive therapy and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

A special presentation of the Psychiatric Times Teacher of the Year Award was presented to Dr. David R. Rosenberg, Professor and Chief of Child Psychiatry and Psychology, Wayne State University School of Medicine. Dr. Rosenberg was honored for his dedication to mental health education.
