Theranos, Inc.’ Founder Takes Blood Test To Tech Movers And Shakers

Theranos Inc. founder Elizabeth Holmes spread the company’s low-cost lab test gospel to the tech faithful on Monday.

Speaking at TechCrunch’s Disrupt conference, Holmes largely stuck to the fast-growing Palo Alto company’s script: It can turn out lab results cheaply from a small amount of blood taken from a simple finger prick at one of its Theranos “wellness centers” in select Walgreens stores.

How cheaply? In some cases, as much as 90 percent less than Medicare reimbursement rates, Holmes said.
