NEW YORK, Sept. 15, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- On Wednesday, November 2, 2016, the Elton John AIDS Foundation (EJAF) will host its 15th annual An Enduring Vision gala at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City. This year’s honorees are United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and philanthropists Frank Giustra and Steve Tisch. Emmy award-winning producer Andy Cohen will host the event.
“We are excited to present the Enduring Vision Award to long-time supporters Frank Giustra and Steve Tisch, who have both been strong allies in the effort to end HIV/AIDS,” said Sir Elton John, Founder of the Elton John AIDS Foundation. “We are also very proud to present United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon with the Founder’s Award, which celebrates extraordinary contributions to the global effort to end AIDS. He continues to be a vocal supporter for LGBT equality and HIV/AIDS advocacy, declaring LGBT rights as one of the great neglected human rights issues of our time,” he continued.
This year’s honorees have a long history of supporting EJAF and the global effort to end HIV/AIDS.
- As Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-moon oversaw the launch of the Free & Equal Campaign, an international public education campaign to promote equality and acceptance for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people around the world.
- As a renowned businessman, entrepreneur, and international philanthropist, Frank Giustra has donated millions of dollars to address global poverty, disaster relief, conflict prevention and resolution, health and economic development, and homelessness.
- Chairman and Executive Vice President of the New York Giants, Academy Award-winning film producer, and philanthropist Steve Tisch has devoted his time and resources to ending the HIV/AIDS epidemic and to significant arts and education programs.
EJAF is also delighted to announce American Airlines, BVLGARI, Robert K. Kraft, The Lauder Foundation Leonard & Judy Lauder Fund, Fiore Group, Sands Bethlehem, and Steve Tisch as the presenting sponsors for this year’s gala.
The co-sponsors for this year’s gala include: Aquilini Group, Audi, and The John R. Eckel, Jr. Foundation.
“We have made tremendous progress in the fight to end AIDS. Today, more people have access to treatment and prevention medicine, and the world has increasingly become a more tolerant and compassionate place,” said David Furnish, Chairman of the Elton John AIDS Foundation. “At EJAF, we are deeply grateful to Frank and Steve for helping us in countless ways and for their tremendous generosity to numerous other worthy organizations. We’re also grateful for the Secretary-General’s on-going work to keep HIV/AIDS as a focal issue for the international community and for his deep commitment to helping us end AIDS by 2030.”

About EJAF
At the Elton John AIDS Foundation (EJAF), we believe AIDS can be beaten. We act on that belief by raising funds for evidence-based programs and policies and also by speaking out with honesty and compassion about the realities of people’s lives. Sir Elton John created EJAF almost 25 years ago, first in the United States in 1992 and then in the United Kingdom in 1993. Through hard work and with the help of our generous friends and supporters, the two foundations together have raised more than $350 million over the past quarter century to combat stigma, prevent infections, provide treatment and services, and motivate governments to end AIDS. The U.S. foundation focuses its efforts on programs in the United States, the Americas, and the Caribbean, while the U.K. foundation funds HIV-related work in Europe, Asia, and Africa. Join us in speaking out, taking action, and contributing to our efforts to achieve a world without AIDS. For more information, please visit www.ejaf.org.
