MAHWAH, N.J., Sept. 23, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Stryker Orthopaedics, the Official Joint Replacement Products of the PGA TOUR® and Champions Tour will be returning to Atlanta, GA for the second consecutive year to reinforce its message of joint health to golf fans at the TOUR Championship by Coca-Cola. As part of the company’s appearance, it will feature the Stryker Mobility Zone, an on-site destination designed to educate fans on the importance of joint health and mobility.
“The Stryker team is thrilled to be back at the TOUR Championship, as we’re truly committed to educating the golf community on the importance of joint health,” says Bill Huffnagle, President, Reconstructive Division, Stryker. “Having the opportunity to be present at the final leg of the FedExCup Playoffs is exciting for us and we’re looking forward to offering fans the opportunity to speak with local physicians about hip and knee treatment options.”
The Stryker Mobility Zone, located in the PGA TOUR Pavilion at the East Lake Golf Club starting on Thursday, September 24, will feature the following elements:
- Mako Stryker’s robotic-arm-assisted technology and how it’s changing the way joint replacement is performed
- Interactive photo booth for fans to share highlights of their tournament experience
- On-site local orthopedic surgeons to provide fans with joint health assessments and additional education
In addition to the on-site footprint, throughout tournament week, the company will host the Stryker Health Walk featuring health facts and tips located in key areas along the course, starting at the Stryker Mobility Zone. The Health Walk is part of an ongoing initiative that is activated at key PGA TOUR and Champions Tour events over the course of 2015. To complement the Health Walk, pedometers will be distributed at the Stryker Mobility Zone, giving fans an added incentive to participate, as well as to keep track of their steps.
“It is our hope that the Stryker Health Walk inspires fans to take the first step toward incorporating a healthy activity into their everyday life,” says Huffnagle.
As part of the company’s commitment to the sport, Stryker Orthopaedics sponsors relationships with Champions Tour standouts, Fred Funk and Hal Sutton.
Funk, a Stryker brand ambassador since 2011, is one of the most recognizable names and personalities in professional golf. During his career, which spans more than 20 years, Funk has won eight titles on the PGA TOUR, including THE PLAYERS Championship in 2005, and six titles on the Champions Tour, including the 2009 U.S. Senior Open. Funk underwent total knee replacement in November 2009 and received Stryker’s GetAroundKnee. He won the Regions Tradition the following season, becoming the first player ever to win a PGA TOUR-sanctioned event after total knee replacement surgery.
Sutton, whose 14 PGA TOUR victories include the 1983 PGA Championship and THE PLAYERS Championship in 1983 and 2000, has been a Stryker brand ambassador since 2013. In 2012, at age 54, after speaking with his doctor and exploring hip replacement options, Sutton made the decision to undergo a total left hip replacement and received Stryker’s Mobile Bearing Hip.
One year later, he received a matching Stryker Mobile Bearing Hip on the right side.
