BOERNE, TX, April 20, 2012 – Stanbio Laboratory announced today that the sales, marketing and service functions in the United States for its popular point-of-care HemoPoint® H2 hemoglobin system has been transitioned to Alere, Inc. The transition occurred officially on April 2, 2012. Stanbio Laboratory will maintain sales and marketing responsibilities for the HemoPoint® H2 throughout Mexico, Latin America and South America.
“Stanbio launched the HemoPoint® H2 system in 2004 and it was readily accepted by clinicians in hospitals, physician offices and public health sites across the U.S.,” said Stanbio Laboratory President, William R. Pippin. “We are extremely proud of the reputation we have established for performance accuracy and the high quality of the HemoPoint® H2 system. We are excited now to pass the sales and marketing baton to Alere. We look forward to assisting the highly experienced and much larger sales and marketing team at Alere to drive the HemoPoint® H2 product line as the dominant brand in near-patient hemoglobin testing,” Pippin added.
There will be no change to the core features and functions of the HemoPoint® H2 as a result of this transition. The meter and cuvettes will still be manufactured by EKF diagnostic GmbH, a sister company of Stanbio Laboratory and part of the EKF Diagnostics Group. The color of the HemoPoint® H2 meter will change to coincide with the Alere brand. Distribution partners and end-users alike will continue to have the same reliable HemoPoint® H2 product and disposables they’ve come to expect from Stanbio Laboratory.
