Spiracur Awarded Three-Year New Technology Contract by Novation for Advanced Wound Care Products and Related Accessories

SUNNYVALE, CA--(Marketwire - December 16, 2011) - Spiracur® Inc., developer of a small, non-powered innovative negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) device, today announced that it has been awarded a three-year new technology product supplier agreement by Novation, LLC (Irving, TX), the healthcare industry's leading supply contracting company. Spiracur will supply non-powered advanced NPWT products and related accessories to VHA Inc., UHC, and Provista, LLC members.

The members Novation serves will have access to Spiracur's SNaP® Wound Care System and supplies including the new SNaP BLUE Foam Dressing Kit, which was recently introduced at the Fall Symposium on Advanced Wound Care (SAWC) in November 2011.

Clinical case studies and on-going research have reported significant data supporting the efficacy and safety of Spiracur's SNaP Wound Care System for the treatment of chronic lower extremity wounds. The SNaP System is the only non-powered NPWT device cleared by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) to treat patients suffering from various wound types including chronic (such as diabetic, venous or pressure) and acute wounds, surgically closed incisions, flaps and grafts. The inventive design eliminates the electric or battery powered pump typically used to deliver NPWT, and the system is completely silent and lightweight, weighing only 2.2 ounces. As a result, the SNaP System can be worn under clothing, allowing patients to live their normal life without exposing their wound care treatment to the world.

"Partnering with Novation provides Spiracur access to VHA's 1,400 not-for-profit hospitals and 25,000+ non-acute healthcare organizations nationwide as well as 90 percent of the nation's nonprofit academic medical centers represented by UHC," said Dane Shackleford, vice president of sales for Spiracur Inc. "We are extremely pleased to enter into this agreement with such an esteemed organization and to provide members served by Novation with our innovative SNaP System and supplies, featuring the latest clinical advancements in wound therapy."
