ANN ARBOR, Mich., June 17, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Span Corporation (http://www.spancorp.com/), a Compliance Management Organization (CMO) and Third Party Administrator (TPA) for Drug and Alcohol Screening announced it is now providing its services to Merced County Human Services Agency in California. This is in addition to Span’s recent expansion of its Pennsylvania client base.

Span Corporation's Cmost(TM) Software Case Management Monitor Access Screen

Founded in 1986 to serve as a single point of contact for Wayne County, Michigan’s Department of Social Services Foster Care drug and alcohol screening programs, Span now provides the same high quality TPA services with expanded CMO services to its Merced County Human Services client and to Clarion County Children & Youth for the same program. Clarion County is Span’s second customer in Pennsylvania.

“We are delighted to begin Span’s first California operation--a two year contract with Merced County Human Services Agency; likewise we are excited to welcome Clarion County, Pennsylvania, to our program along with many more exciting new projects on the horizon,” states Mike Grosh, president and CEO of Span Corporation. “We know our programs help families stay together that should stay together, while helping to protect children in unsafe situations, goals our new clients share,” he added.

A recent customer survey confirmed that belief, as 100% of customer-respondents rated Span’s drug testing and compliance management services as effective to very effective at enhancing their ability to protect the children in their caseloads. Additionally, over three quarters of the respondents agreed that Span services saved them from one to four hours per week of administrative time, and over 70% agreed that Compliance Management expedited case resolution.

CMO Services
The CMO concept is a comprehensive program of drug screen specimen collection and analysis, overlaid with dedicated close compliance monitoring and automated reporting. The system requires coordination of providers and management professionals from the fields of forensic laboratory, program management, social services, and business and technology. The end result, according to Span management, is optimized, timely information returned to the end userinformation that will allow the Courts to make better informed decisions in issues vital to child protection and well-being.

Span developed its proprietary custom software application, Cmost, to provide caseworkers and probation officers with twenty-four hour access to test results, drug screening schedules and reports on each of their clients in real time as they become available. Caseworkers, probation officers or court officers enter a client’s data into Cmost online--through email, phone or iPhone referral. Clients are enrolled and issued a unique identification number (pin number). Punching this number into their phone gets clients access to the Interactive Voice Response (IVR) scheduler, which records the date and time of their call. This information, along with drug and alcohol screen results is provided back to the referrer on a regular basis. They are also available on request or sent automatically whenever a client is determined to be out of compliance with court orders. All reports are encrypted so the data remain secure and confidentiality is assured.

The drug testing and compliance information is delivered to the individual caseworkers as rapidly as possible and is available for immediate use in the management of each client’s case. Cmost automates the total program process so a caseworker saves administrative time and so case resolution is expedited. Twenty-four hour access to all client records helps caseworkers and other case managers stay organized and be more effective.
