Syringe Infusion Pumps are devices that are designed for precise dosage of drugs injected for medical treatment. The Medfusion(TM) 3500 Syringe Pump with PharmGuard(R) Medication Safety Software is a smart pump that incorporates specific configuration profiles, over 4,000 drug library capacity, over 100 different dosing units, and safety limits on all infusion parameters to help reduce medication errors that may occur without the use of smart pumps. The product can be configured for OR specific profiles to meet the needs of the OR as well as other nursing units and areas. The Medfusion(TM) 3500 syringe pumps with PharmGuard(TM) Medication Safety Software -- can help medical professionals reduce medication errors through simplicity of use and work flow efficiencies.
“We needed to expand the current fleet of syringe pumps in order to meet growing patient needs. Additional units of the style we had were no longer available and did not have dose error reduction software,” said Terry Hensler, Manager of Clinical Engineering and Chair of the IV Technology Leadership Team at Children’s Hospital. “We decided to purchase the Medfusion(TM) 3500 Syringe Pump with PharmGuard(R) Medication Safety Software for their pump configuration, ease of use, stability of Smiths Medical, configurability of the safety software, disposables, educational support, and cost.”
“The implementation services offered by Smiths Medical were excellent. They provided an exceptionally knowledgeable clinical team that covered in-house support very effectively,” adds Hensler. “Smiths Medical has been very responsive in listening to our concerns and suggestions for improvement. This has resulted in changes to the software that we believe will benefit our facilities and others.”
“The contract with Children’s Hospital presents a great opportunity to demonstrate that intuitive safety technology can be devised to improve work flow efficiencies,” stated John Bond, Global Director of Marketing for Safety Infusion Systems at Smiths Medical. “The use of Medfusion(TM) 3500 Syringe Pumps in a majority of the top adult and pediatric institutions is a testimonial in itself, as it enhances Smiths Medical’s presence and reputation in critical care environments throughout the world.”
