SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 23, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Peaxy is excited to announce that the Sentinel North research project, an initiative by Québec’s Université Laval to improve humanity’s understanding of the northern environment and its impact on human health, has chosen Peaxy Lifecycle Intelligence as its data access platform to manage the massive amounts of field data it is generating.

To deploy the solution, Peaxy has collaborated closely with Professor Jacques Corbeil, Canada Research Chair in Medical Genomics Tier 1 at the Université Laval in Québec, Canada.

“The Sentinel North project is designed to improve our understanding of the northern environment of Canada in general and in the province of Québec in particular,” says Professor Corbeil. “In our group, we develop machine learning approaches to help understand the massive amounts of data being collected. We use Peaxy’s platform to manage large amounts of structured and unstructured data sets, often taking advantage of the unique threading capability of the solution.”

According to Peaxy CEO Manuel Terranova, Université Laval’s use case shows that access to data at industrial scale drives innovation in data science, including for medical research.

“Customers see our data access platform as an incredibly useful infrastructure component in complex analytical solutions, much like the machine learning activities at Laval,” says Terranova. “We look forward to continuing to support Professor Corbeil’s team’s efforts in applying state-of-the-art algorithms to help unlock the mysteries of Northern Canada.”
