MECHANICSBURG, Pa., Sept. 6, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Select Medical has named Doug Brewer Senior Vice President & Chief Development Officer. In this senior leadership role, Brewer will help drive Select Medical’s strategic growth through new joint venture partnerships, acquisitions and other business relationships. Select Medical serves more than 38,000 patients each day in the United States through its growing network of inpatient hospitals and outpatient clinics.
Most recently, Brewer served aspresident of a joint venture between SSM Health Care and Select Medical that was formed in St. Louis in 2009. Under his leadership, the regional rehabilitation network grew to more than 60 locations providing inpatient medical rehabilitation, outpatient physical rehabilitation, sub-acute rehabilitation, home care, occupational health and contract therapies. Brewer was also instrumental in the effort to construct a new freestanding hospital (SSM Rehabilitation Hospital), which opened in January 2012 in the greater St. Louis market. Prior to his assignment with the joint venture, Brewer served as Vice President of Business Development for SSM Health Care St. Louis, where he was responsible for growth and development at five SSM adult hospitals and a Level 1 children’s hospital.

An experienced development executive, Brewer has served in various leadership roles during his career. Before his role at SSM Health Care in St. Louis, Brewer was with Tenet Health and served as the Chief Development Officer for Sierra Providence Health Network, a multi-hospital acute care provider in Texas.
Earlier in his career, Brewer worked for Continental Medical Systems, Inc. where he was involved with a team that developed more than 20 inpatient rehabilitation units and 40 freestanding rehabilitation hospitals across the United States. A native of Choctaw, OK, Brewer holds his bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Central Oklahoma and his MBA from Kutztown University in Pennsylvania.
