CRO Funds all Math and Science Projects in Triangle-Area Public Schools, Challenges Other NC Businesses to Help Fund Classrooms
Chapel Hill, NC ? October 10, 2016 ? Rho, a Chapel Hill-based full-service contract research organization (CRO) focused on bringing new products to market through a full range of product development services, announced today that the company will continue its support of public education in its home state through a nearly $43,000 donation to the highest poverty schools in the Research Triangle Park region of North Carolina through DonorsChoose.org. Rho’s donation will fund all math and science related projects at public schools in Wake, Orange and Durham counties. As part of the donation, Rho will also provide each of its employees a $25 DonorsChoose.org gift card to donate to the school or project of their choice. This is the second year in a row that Rho has made a donation to this nonprofit educational organization.
“Public schools face budget shortages each year, shortages that are frequently made up by teachers paying for needed supplies out of their own pockets,” said Laura Helms Reece, co-chief executive officer, Rho. “As a product of the North Carolina public school system, I see supporting our state’s educators and impacting the lives students through DonorsChoose.org as a corporate and personal duty to the community.”
DonorsChoose.org is a service that allows teachers to request funds based on their individual classroom needs. Donors can then pick projects or schools to fund. Rho has chosen to donate funds to the lowest income schools in the area, where communities are less likely to be able to fund projects.
Rho’s donation will fund math and science classroom needs such as:
• Dell Computers that will be used to aid the individual learning needs of students, providing remediation, reinforcement, and acceleration of mathematics skills needed for educational success.
• Materials to create and maintain a school-wide organic flower and vegetable garden, helping students and the surrounding community.
• Electronic building materials such as littleBits and Makey Makey to provide learning opportunities for students to develop real-world coding skills and knowledge about electronics.
The Chapel Hill-based company is challenging other businesses across the state and the country to support students and teachers in the public school education system. To learn more about Rho, please visit www.rhoworld.com.
