(OTCBB Symbol: OMCT) today announced that the results of a clinical study conducted at Herzzentrum Leipzig, University of Leipzig (The Heart Center Leipzig) in Leipzig, Germany, a world renowned cardiovascular center, will be presented at the 3rd Annual Mayo Clinic Vascular Symposium, “Advances and Controversies in the Medical, Endovascular and Surgical Treatment of Vascular Disease.” The study, entitled “Modelling of temperature mapping for quantitative dynamic infrared coronary angiography for intraoperative graft patency control,” is authored by a leading research team in the field that includes Jens Garbade, M.D., Marcus Hollenstein, Ph.D., Cris Ullmann, Ph.D., Prof. Volkmar Falk, M.D., Jan Fritz Gummert, Ph.D. and Prof. Friedrich Wilhelm Mohr, M.D. The aim of the study was to use the BioScanIR(R) System to develop a heat-transfer model for quantitative flow estimation in a pre-clinical animal study and then compare these results to clinical results both in arrested and beating heart coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) in humans. The researchers concluded that the method “enables the estimation of actual graft flow using DIR imaging. Despite only small temperature gradients in off-pump surgery, the method can be applied for non-invasive no-touch graft flow estimation in beating heart surgery.”
