Within the next two years, Quest Diagnostics will eliminate 70 positions at its town lab and will transfer another 70 positions to a new regional facility in Marlborough, Mass. Quest spokeswoman Wendy Bost said Wednesday that the cuts and transfers will take place over the next 18 to 24 months. Bost said she did not know how many employees now work at the lab at 3 Sterling Drive, off of Barnes Industrial Road North. Quest Diagnostics is the eighth largest employer in town, with about 370 employees, said Doreen DeSarro, business recruiter for the town’s Economic Development Commission. “I don’t understand their rationale,” DeSarro said.
