Prescription Advisory Systems & Technology (PAST) to provide vital PDMP data for Cureatr’s Medication Management Platform, Meds 360°

Today at HIMSS19, Cureatr announced a major enhancement to their recently released medication management solution, Meds 360°, by adding vital national prescription drug monitoring program (PDMP) data to combat the opioid epidemic via a partnership with PAST.

ORLANDO, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Today at HIMSS19, Cureatr announced a major enhancement to their recently released medication management solution, Meds 360°, by adding vital national prescription drug monitoring program (PDMP) data to combat the opioid epidemic via a partnership with PAST.

PDMPs are state-level databases that track controlled substance prescriptions, providing health authorities timely information about prescribing and patient behavior that contribute to addiction and abuse. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, “evaluations of PDMPs have illustrated changes in prescribing behaviors, use of multiple providers by patients, and decreased substance abuse treatment admissions.” Legislation authorizing the creation and operation of a PDMP has been passed in 49 states, the District of Columbia, and Guam. In all but six states, DC, and Puerto Rico, it is mandatory for either the prescriber, the dispenser, or both to check the state-wide PDMP database when new prescriptions of Schedule II-IV drugs are written.

Cureatr solves this problem by integrating PAST’s PDMP data and analytics from up to 41 states into Meds 360°. The PDMP lookup will be accessible with a single click presented using Cureatr’s novel timeline-based interface, highlighting therapeutic duplications, strength changes, prescribers, and fill dates. Additionally, alerting is available for multi-prescriber/multi-pharmacy and MMEs in excess of state recommendations.

“PAST has long been dedicated to fighting the substance use disorder epidemic with innovative solutions to increase the effectiveness and value of PDMP reports,” said Rick Bunker, CEO, at PAST. “Partnering with Cureatr was a no-brainer. Their Meds 360° platform already provides a wealth of real-time medication data to empower care decisions and address many issues with suboptimal medication management. We see our PDMP data and analytics as another piece in the puzzle to help clinicians give their patients the best possible care.”

“We are thrilled to be working with PAST as they’ve built a unique data and analytics platform that just doesn’t exist elsewhere,” said Richard Resnick, CEO of Cureatr. “Despite the benefits of PDMP checks and the mandates to perform them, the national average for PDMP checks by controlled substance prescribers is merely eight patients per 35. Simply by using Meds 360° with the PAST PDMP data and analytics, clinicians and administrators will gain nearly 100% compliance with their state-based PDMP mandates.”
