The annual Torrance Advantage Awards recognize innovative economic development strategies of local significance, honoring local companies that create jobs, attract skilled workers, patronize local small businesses and contribute to the community through special events and charitable giving.
The award was presented at a special reception attended by community leaders and business executives from area companies including Torrance Memorial Hospital and Toyota Motor Corporation. Torrance Mayor Frank Scotto presented Phenomenex with the “People to People” award, which recognizes the organization’s enhancement of employment opportunities as well as investments in its talented and skilled workforce.
Job opportunities, training programs, employee benefits and sustained growth were named as key factors for the selection of Phenomenex. Employee motivational activities including water balloon fights, golf cart races and marching band appearances were also mentioned as contributing to a fun atmosphere and distinctive culture at the company
