Perceptronix Medical Inc. Labs Saddened by Loss of Board Member and Great Citizen, Dr. Donald Rix

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - November 10, 2009) - Dr. Donald Rix, Perceptronix Medical Inc. (“PMI Labs”) Board member and investor, passed away on Friday November 6th, 2009 at the age of 78 following a long illness. He was a truly great citizen of Canada, renowned for his support of the biotechnology industry and for his philanthropy in health, education and the arts. Dr. Rix has been a valued supporter of PMI Labs since its inception in 1999 and over the years has made countless contributions towards its success. He will be remembered by the Company for his wisdom, warm heart, and charismatic smile. PMI Labs is greatly saddened by his loss and extend our sincere condolences to his family.

About Dr. Donald Rix:

Dr. Rix contributed for more than 40 years to life sciences companies and medical teaching, research, and practice. Dr. Rix was one of the owners and founders of MDS Metro Laboratory Services (now part of Life Labs Inc.), the largest independent community medical laboratory in British Columbia. He was also one of the owners and founders of Cantest Ltd, and a Board member of MDS Ventures Pacific Inc., QHR Technologies Inc., and Reservlogic Corp., among other private life sciences companies.

Dr. Rix was a well-recognized member of the medical profession, with fellowships in four medical colleges and societies. He was active in provincial and national medical associations, was a member of several B.C. research foundations, and director of the B.C. Children’s Hospital Foundation. He was a member of the Premier’s Technology Council, BC Medical Services Foundation and Chair of Genome BC. He has served in various capacities at BCIT, SFU, UBC and was the Chair of the Board of Governors of the University of Northern BC.

Dr. Rix was an active supporter of the arts community, donating millions of dollars for education, health and the arts. He has also earned numerous awards and honours, including the Order of Canada, Order of BC and was inducted into the Business Laureates of BC Hall of Fame in May, 2006.
