SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--OptraSCAN, Inc. today announced the launch of its next generation, On-Demand suite of image analysis software for digital pathology, which includes OptraASSAYSTM, CARDSTM and OptraPROCESSTM. The image analysis suite supports both individual, small scale analysis and high-throughput, multi-node or cloud-enabled environments.
“The ease of use and automatic whole slide image highlighting of tumor regions will become the gold standard for pathology image analysis. The full suite of image analysis solutions is available through our On-Demand program where users have access to analysis assays via a pay-per-use model, versus a costly license.”
OptraSCAN is exhibiting at the USCAP Annual Conference in San Antonio, TX, March 4-10 at booth #513.
OptraSCAN On-Demand Digital Pathology has addressed market needs for affordable, digital whole slide imaging for pathology with its OptraSCANTM scanners, and is now providing affordable, web-based On-Demand colorimetric and morphometric image analysis solutions to complement its scanners, as well as other popular scanners in use today, including Philips, Leica, BioImagene and more.
OptraSCAN’s OptraASSAYS image analysis solution utilizing artificial intelligence, is designed to make tumor identification and quantified analysis easy and intuitive using a simple interface, 3-click workflow and ‘Whole-slide OverlayTM’ for instant tumor identification. OptraASSAYS Whole-slide OverlayTM feature is the first of its kind in the industry to automatically apply pseudo color over the tumor area as the image is scanned and viewed in the image viewer (or independently in the OptraASSAYS software). This ability removes batch-processing and the laborious task of panning a whole slide image to identify tumor cells.
OptraASSAYS works similarly to a Google Earth-like application, where a satellite image can be zoomed-in to unveil hidden topography and 3D elements such as mountain ranges and riverbeds which would be invisible on a plain map. In comparison, OptraASSAYS Whole-slide OverlayTM discovers important physical features in tumor samples such as epithelial cells in seconds, and in contrast, will distinguish from stroma or fatty cells, which a pathologist would deem less important. The Whole-slide OverlayTM also enables the user to add ‘pins’ to each area of interest, providing an audit trail of ROI’s. Users can ‘toggle’ between the original stained tissue image and pseudo color overlay. The overlay feature will increase pathologists’ efficiency and allow for concentrated review to be spent on tumorous regions.
OptraASSAYS’ turnkey immunohistochemistry (IHC) and H&E image analysis assays include: nuclear ER, PR, Ki67, P53; membrane HER2/neu, EGFR; cytoplasmic AE1/AE3. Additional assays include: tumor area identification, DNA ploidy, kidney morphometry, prostate cancer—lumen identification, tissue microarray and automated detection for necrosis, hemorrhage and angiogenesis. OptraASSAYS algorithms utilize ANN (artificial neural network) based machine learning in an easy-to-use user interface to adjust algorithms without the need to alter code. OptraASSAYS are compliant with 21CFR part 11 to ensure security and confidentiality of data and can be easily integrated with third party LIS and HIS with HL7 support.
In addition to image analysis assays, OptraSCAN’s cloud-enabled CARDS (computer assisted region detection system) software enables users to train the algorithms to improve its performance. OptraSCAN also provides a web-based server infrastructure OptraPROCESS to analyze and process images in batches for analysis of thousands and millions of images where a single computer is insufficient and cloud clusters are needed.
“Pathologists can now access an affordable, easy to deploy on-demand solution for image analysis at the click of a button,” said Abhi Gholap, Founder and CEO of OptraSCAN. “The ease of use and automatic whole slide image highlighting of tumor regions will become the gold standard for pathology image analysis. The full suite of image analysis solutions is available through our On-Demand program where users have access to analysis assays via a pay-per-use model, versus a costly license.”
