(Ivanhoe) -- Finding out if you have pulmonary embolism may now take one less step. A new report shows using two screenings -- D-dimer measurement and multislice CT scan (MSCT) -- is as effective in detecting pulmonary embolism (PE) as using three screenings -- D-dimer, venous ultrasound of the leg and MSCT. So researchers say venous ultrasound is no longer needed to diagnose PE when MSCT is used.
