CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- OmniGuide, Inc., a privately held medical device company in Cambridge, Massachusetts, today announced that it has appointed industry veteran Scott Flora as its President & CEO and member of the Board of Directors. Mr. Flora brings to OmniGuide more than 20 years of experience building and managing successful medical device businesses. He most recently served as Global Business Unit President of Surgical Devices at Covidien (NYSE:COV - News), where he was responsible for Covidien’s largest division.
Mr. Flora will begin his role at OmniGuide on November 1, 2011 and Yoel Fink, Ph.D., OmniGuide’s Founder, will serve as Chairman of the OmniGuide Board of Directors following his recent promotion to Director of the Research Laboratory of Electronics at M.I.T.

From 2006 through 2011, Mr. Flora led the surgical products division at Covidien, a global leader in healthcare products and one of the largest commercial organizations in the medical device industry. Mr. Flora was a strong contributor to Covidien’s overall growth through innovative sales and marketing initiatives, new product development and strategic mergers and acquisitions. Prior to Covidien, Mr. Flora spent fifteen years at Smith & Nephew, most recently serving as President & General Manager of the Orthopedics Reconstruction business. Mr. Flora earned his B.S. in Marketing from Millikin University.
