MELVILLE, N.Y., April 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Photomicrographers have only a few more weeks to enter the 33rd Annual Nikon Small World Competition, the world’s pre-eminent photographic competition celebrating photography through the microscope. April 30th is the last day to submit entries into the pool of amateur and professional images taken through a light microscope.
Founded in 1974, Small World rewards the world’s best photomicrographers who make critically important scientific contributions to life sciences, bio- research and materials science, while showing an understanding of the beauty that can occur at the intersection of science and art. As part of the oldest and most respected photomicrography competition, Small World winners and their images receive worldwide recognition and have been featured in highly respected publications, including Time Magazine, National Geographic, Smithsonian and the New York Times.
Contestants can submit up to three images, either digitally at http://www.nikonsmallworld.com, or via film at Nikon Small World, 1300 Walt Whitman Road, Melville, NY 11747-3064. Rules and entry forms are also available at http://www.nikonsmallworld.com. Entries will be judged by top industry experts on a variety of criteria, including originality, informational content, technical proficiency and visual impact. Entrants may use any brand of equipment to create their images.
Entrants with the top 20 photos will receive prizes of Nikon equipment, with first and second prize winners receiving $3,000 and $2,000 worth of equipment respectively. Additionally, the winning images will be featured at museums across the country as part of the Nikon Small World Museum Tour.
