New Directors Elected to California Healthcare Institute (CHI)

LA JOLLA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The California Healthcare Institute (CHI) announced today that Susan M. Baxter, Ph.D., executive director, California State University Program for Education and Research in Biotechnology (CSUPERB); Marcea B. Lloyd, senior vice president, government and corporate affairs and general counsel of Amylin Pharmaceuticals, Inc.; and Keith C. Valentine, president and chief operating officer of NuVasive, Inc., have been elected to its board of directors. In addition, John C. Martin, Ph.D., chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Gilead Sciences, was elected to serve as CHI’s chairman. CHI is a non-profit public policy research organization, representing leading California academic institutions, biotechnology, medical device, diagnostics and pharmaceutical firms.
