Neuro Kinetics, Inc. to Preview Updated I-Portal(R) Technology & VEST(TM) Software at American Academy of Audiology Conference

PITTSBURGH, PA--(Marketwire - March 21, 2012) - Neuro Kinetics, Inc. (NKI) (www.neuro-kinetics.com), global manufacturers and marketers of precision eye-tracking and noninvasive medical diagnostic equipment used for neurophysiologic and neuro-otologic testing, said today that it will preview updates to its I-Portal® technology and its VEST™ control and analysis software at the Audiology NOW! 2012 conference in Boston, March 28-31 (www.audiology.org).

The updates improve user experience, combine processing functionality into one computer, and enable patient eye-tracking video recording on the I-Portal® NOTC.

The new I-Portal® 3.0 and VEST™ 7.0 software upgrades will be demonstrated on its I-Portal® NOTC (Neuro-Otologic Test Center) that will be operating at the conference.

"The annual audiology conference is an important event for Neuro Kinetics," said Vince Kytka, director of Operations and Marketing. "While we are expanding the range of medical specialists who utilize our equipment and expanding our diagnostic testing capabilities, it is the audiologists who operate this technology and most often evaluate the data. We are eager to showcase our advances for them."

Audiologists -- as well as ENT's, neuro-otologists, neuro-ophthalmologists and neurologists -- use NKI's I-Portal technology, including VEST software, to conduct a variety of oculomotor tests, including dynamic vestibular, saccade, pursuit and optokinetic tests to assess balance and central and peripheral neurologic functions.

Improvements to the I-Portal technology and VEST software are:

  • an extensive redesign of the User Interface;
  • now running on Windows® 7 platform allowing VEST to capitalize on the increased efficiency and performance of the new 64-bit Windows operating system;
  • only one computer now required enabling new video-saving and playback features on the I-Portal NOTC systems;
  • a new report structure with a selection matrix that provides an intuitive and more robust user interface streamlining the process of creating patient reports and documentation and using less paper;
  • Improved performance of pupil detection and torsion algorithms with torsion now running at 100 hertz;

"These newest enhancements to our software reflect our ongoing strategy of leading the markets with innovations in product and software design and superior service," said Kytka. "We're anxious to share with our friends in the audiology field their good observations we have been able to implement with the hard work of our software engineers."
