When we think of prostheses, we usually imagine replacements for missing arms and legs that help people regain physical ability lost due to an accident or disease. But researchers at McGill University in Canada tried to imagine a different world in which our bodies are musical instruments that are missing digital parts that only the research team can replace. Working three years on the “Instrumented Bodies” project, the team developed a set of “prosthetic” devices that mimic’s our own body parts, can create music, and are designed to be worn and played through body manipulation.
