‘Mini-Strokes’ May Increase Risk of Heart Attack, Mayo Clinic Study

WebMD -- March 24, 2011 -- “Mini-strokes” or transient ischemic attacks (TIAs) are known to increase risk for stroke, and now new research shows that they may also double your risk for heart attack. The findings appear in the journal Stroke. A TIA occurs when blood flow to an area of the brain is temporarily disrupted. TIA symptoms include: numbness or weakness in the face, arm or leg; confusion; double vision or loss of vision; dizziness; and trouble walking or talking.
