TOLEDO, Ohio, Feb. 6, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Midwest Recovery Center’s Chief Executive Officer, Matt Bell, spoke at his alma mater, St. Francis De Sales High School, about drug addiction and making better life choices.

Bell was joined by Tamme Smith and Eric Henderson of Lucas County Sheriff’s Office DART Unit, together they presented to the students on heroin, opioid, drug addiction and recovery.

Matt Bell graduated from St. Francis in 2005 and went on to a promising college baseball career. Bell suffered a sports related injury and was prescribed opioids, which led to heroin addiction. Bell has been sober since 2015 and has made it his personal mission to help those suffering from addiction get help, and to educate the youth about the dangers and reality of addiction.

Matt Bell, “Educating the youth about the realities of drug and alcohol addiction is pertinent. I wasn’t taught about the progression of addiction, or what addiction could look like, or that it was possible to recover. Someone needs to advocate and educate people, and I feel so blessed to be able to go back to my alma mater and speak. Last year I spoke to over 85,000 students, this year I hope to speak to more, to spread the message, and to help young people learn to make better life choices.”
