DUBLIN, Calif., Oct. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Microchip Biotechnologies Inc. (MBI) today announced the addition of two Dr. David Barker and Dr. Mostafa Ronaghi to its Board of Directors. The announcement follows on the footsteps of the company’s $4.5M Series A investment round.
Dr. Ronaghi is an experienced entrepreneur who has co-founded a number of successful start-up companies. These include Pyrosequencing AB, which completed a successful IPO in June of 2000 on Stockholm Stock Exchange, ParAllele Biosciences, acquired by Affymetrix in May 2005, and NextBio. Dr. Ronaghi is a principal investigator at Stanford University Genome Center focused on developing novel tools for molecular diagnostics.
Dr. Barker, VP and CSO of Illumina, has previously held the positions of Vice President and Chief Science Advisor at Amersham Pharmacia Biotech and before that Vice President of Research and Business Development for Molecular Dynamics, Sunnyvale California. He brings considerable experience in the development and commercialization of groundbreaking life sciences platforms.
